Job summary
Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and dynamic RCEM EM Advanced Clinical Practitioner to lead the team of ACP's working within the ED of the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience working in the ED and will be able to work as a clinician in all areas of the ED (Majors, Resus, Paediatrics, MIU). The Lead ACP will possess proven leadership skills and will be responsible for the recruitment and development of ED ACPs and trainee ACPs.
The Lead ACP will be supported to work collaboratively with the ED Senior team and the ED consultants.
This is a fantastic opportunity to facilitate the standardisation of ACP roles within ED playing a lead role in the strategic development and evaluation of advanced clinical practice.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be essential in the leadership of EM ACP's and trainee ACPs. Supporting the Clinical Director, EM Consultants, Senior Nurse and Department Manager the post holder will take responsibility for the development of the ACP team ensuring expert guidance and training is provided.
The post holder will work across the 4 pillars of Advanced practice and the job plan will support this with dedicated non-clinical time.
Job responsibilities
Clinical Practice
Work as a senior clinician co-ordinating and providing care as required in the ED.
Use advanced knowledge and expertise to assess, examine, investigate, diagnose and treat patients.
Perform clinical procedures as required within the scope of the role.
Maintain provider status in ALS, APLS & ATLS.
Education
Provide health education and advice to ED patients.
Undertake the development and delivery of multidisciplinary education programmes.
Organise and lead regular training in line with the RCEM ACP curriculum.
Teach on the Agored All Wales EP programme.
Leadership and Management
Have day to day management responsibilities for the ACP team.
Provide focused and professional leadership for the ED team.
Work closely with WECAP and other national groups to raise the profile for ACPs.
Research and Audit
Lead on and participate in clinical research and activities/projects which contribute to the provision and delivery of evidence-based practice.
Have regular involvement in quality improvement projects within the ED.
Person Specification
Knowledge
Essential
* Professional Registration
* CQFW Level 7 Education (Masters) in Advanced Clinical Practice
* Credentialed RCEM Advanced Clinical Practitioner
* Independent Prescribing Qualification
* Teaching and Assessing Qualification
Desirable
* Current ALS, APLS/EPALS, ATLS/ETC, NLS provider
* Instructor on one or more advanced course (ALS/APLS/ATLS)
* Non-Medical Authorisation of Blood Products
Experience
Essential
* Extensive post registration clinical experience in emergency care
* Previous experience working as an ACP in ED
* Experience of clinical team leadership & of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable
* Experience of Clinical Audit/Quality Improvement
* Silver Level Quality Improvement
