Seeking a dynamic CAD Tooling Design Engineer to join my client in West London.
You will be responsible for the provision of mechanical CAD expertise supporting the engineering department, with particular focus on tooling design. You will oversee the creation, review and continuous improvement of tooling drawings while supporting the wider tooling process to troubleshoot production defects in areas affecting tooling, for continuous development of company tools.
Role: CAD Tooling Design Engineer - Permanent Position
Location: West London
Pay: Up to £34,078 per annum
Hours: 40 Hours per week, Mon-Fri

Job Responsibilities:
1. Design and develop new tooling concepts, supporting the Technical Process Manager and Tool Maker in the creation of tooling drawings.
2. Where required, and in close liaison with either in-house tool room or external supplier, develop detailed tooling designs within the company CAD system (SolidWorks).
3. As required, with internal and external tooling resources, provide technical liaison with support from the wider organisation.
4. Technical support of daily operations in all areas of documenting company tooling, including NEW, MODIFICATION and REPAIR of tooling.
5. Creation of internal tooling work instructions (as required) to document use and maintenance of specific tooling, to ensure a consistent quality output.
6. Working in collaboration with the technical team, investigate and develop new processes, methods, and layouts to increase equipment flexibility and improve throughput within OEM standard requirements, while also supporting TPM-Tooling to investigate and correct non-conformities and optimize tooling processes within the wider Product Segment, as well as being responsible for creating necessary engineering documentation.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
1. Minimum qualification HND in a mechanical discipline, with significant CAD experience; higher qualification considered if able to demonstrate genuine interest in pursuing tool design.
2. Training in Lean manufacturing, Continuous improvement, and Statistical Process Control would be beneficial.
3. Proven CAD modelling and drafting skills (ideally SolidWorks), for tooling, jig and fixture design.
4. Knowledge to include modelling, drafting and complex assemblies (Kinematics would be advantageous).
5. Experience in metal component processing, including surface finishing operations.
6. Competent IT knowledge.
7. High analysis, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
