Senior Finance Manager – Environmental/Conservation Charity, Central London, £65-£70k

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Finance Manager to join the finance team at a leading environmental and conservation charity. You will play a key role in ensuring strong financial control and reporting across the charity’s operations. Reporting into the Head of Finance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Financial Leadership: Lead the finance team, providing guidance on budgeting, financial planning, and management accounting.
* Strategic Financial Planning: Develop and monitor financial strategies aligned with organisational goals, supporting long-term sustainability.
* Management Reporting: Prepare and deliver accurate and timely financial reports, including budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis, to senior leadership.
* Grant and Project Oversight: Ensure effective financial management of grants, projects, and funding agreements, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and regulatory standards.
* Business Partnering: Work closely with non-finance stakeholders, providing financial support, insight, and challenge to drive operational efficiency and decision-making.
* Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving financial systems, processes, and controls to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
* Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure financial compliance with charity regulations, including SORP, and oversee risk management processes.
* Management Team Contribution: Actively contribute to all aspects of business management, helping to embed a culture of business discipline and continuous improvement.
About You:
* Professionally qualified (ACCA/CIMA) or, qualified by experience, with an in-depth understanding of business/financial management and reporting in a not-for-profit setting.
* Proven experience in financial management, preferably within the environmental, conservation, or not-for-profit sector.
* Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to diverse audiences.
* Familiarity with charity financial reporting standards and funding/donor compliance requirements.
* Proficiency in financial systems and advanced Excel skills, with experience in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks).
