The School and Role
This 'Good' SEND Alternative Provision, based in Newcastle upon Tyne, supports children and young people aged 10-18 and is looking to appoint a passionate English Teacher to teach Key Stage 3 or 4 classes on a full-time basis. Working in this Secondary and Post 16 SEND Alternative Provision as part of an established team, the desired English Teacher will be working on a small class sized basis with pupils with SEND complex needs including Autism, Learning Disabilities and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH). This full time English Teacher role is long term from September 2024 ongoing with the possibility of a permanent vacancy for the right person.
The desired English Teacher must have experience of working within a English department and be comfortable teaching English at Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4). The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and teaching engaging English lessons to pupils in KS3 and KS4. Teachers of all English specialism will be considered for this post. Although schemes of work are in place, the successful teacher will be given autonomy to amend lesson plans for the benefit of pupils. The desired English Teacher will have previous experience of teaching GCSE English in line with exam boards such as AQA and BTEC.
Requirements
The desired English Teacher will have;
1. - Experience of working with primary or secondary school aged children
2. - Experience of working with pupils with SEND and challenging behaviour
3. - A passion for the progress of SEND primary and secondary school pupils
4. - An ability to work as part of a team
5. - QTS/QTLS
