We are an SEN school in Effingham seeking a motivated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. We offer a rewarding opportunity to work with autistic students aged 11-16, who have associated behavioural and communication difficulties, in a supportive and stimulating setting.
What we offer:
* £12.99 - £13.89 per hour (£23,210 - £24,818 actual salary) depending on qualifications.
* £1000 Welcome Bonus
* Term-Time only position (40 hours per week)
* Structured working hours:
* Monday-Wednesday: 8:15am - 4:45pm
* Thursday: 8:15am - 5:00pm
* Friday: 8:15am - 4:00pm

Your Key Responsibilities:
* Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students in line with school policies.
* Providing positive behaviour support and adapting your approach to meet individual student needs.
* Building strong and trusting relationships with students, creating a safe and positive learning environment.
* Promoting independence and personal development in our students.
* Supporting the teacher in implementing engaging and differentiated learning activities.
* Preparing resources and adapting learning materials under the teacher's guidance.
* Contributing to a dynamic and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.
* Participating in the school's behaviour support approach, including physical intervention (accredited Team Teach) where necessary and always as a last resort.
* Completing reports accurately and within designated timeframes.
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
* Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN) in an employed or voluntary setting.
* A recognised qualification at Level 2 or above in Support work for Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent) is desirable.
* GCSE Maths and English Language qualification minimum Grade 4 (or equivalent) is essential.
* A strong understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
* Knowledge or experience of working with pupils with SEN or SEMH/ASD.
* A proven ability to provide consistent support to children with diverse needs.
* A child-centered approach, treating each student as an individual and valuing their unique strengths.
* A positive and creative approach to meeting pupils' individual needs.
* The ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues.
