Stage Manager – Young Company Spring Production 2025
No Regrets by Gary McNair as part of NT Connections
Directed by Nicole Redfern
Theatre Royal Plymouth is seeking a Stage Manager for our next Young Company production, No Regrets by Gary McNair.
This will be performed as part of the NT Connections festival in the Drum in May with home performances at TR2 during the week commencing Monday 7 April 2025.
About the play:
Over the course of five years, playwright Gary McNair spoke to people at all stages and in all walks of life on the subject of regret. This play marks the results of those conversations. A collection of scenes from the silly to the profound, that charts our relationship with the things we should have done but didn’t and the things we shouldn’t have done, but did.
About the role:
The Stage Manager will work closely with the Director, Assistant Director, and Producing team in creating this production. The Stage Manager will need to be available for the majority of rehearsals leading up to the performances. Intensive Weeks/Production Weeks and Festival Rehearsals are compulsory, but the rehearsal attendance in February and March can be subject to availability and arranged based on individuals’ availability.
The Role:
Alongside the Director and Assistant Director, you will be responsible for maintaining a productive and safe environment during the rehearsal process. The cast will be made up of 16-20 young company members aged 14+. You should be comfortable working alongside a group of young people from a variety of backgrounds and with differing levels of experience. Applicants should be interested in fostering a collaborative and supportive approach to developing work.
Other duties include running the rehearsal room with the Director, liaising with the technical team about show & rehearsal requirements, minimal prop sourcing, working with the production manager on schedules and the health & safety of the performance, alongside all other duties associated with the role of a Stage Manager.
It is compulsory for all individuals working with young people and vulnerable adults to have an enhanced DBS check within the last 3 years.
Freelance fee:
The fee is £1655. This is inclusive of all required rehearsals, planning, and performances.
This is a Freelance position. Therefore, you will be responsible for your own tax and national insurance contributions and must have a unique tax reference number.
How to Apply:
If you would like to apply, please send a CV & covering letter (No longer than 1 side of A4) on why you are interested in working on this project and why you think you would be suitable for the role, to ryan.wilce@theatreroyal.com
