Academy Head of Recruitment - Part-Time (20 hours per week) The Academy Head of Recruitment (AHoR) has responsibility for identifying and attracting young players with the highest possible potential to Morecambe Football Club’s Academy, both through their own network and through the recruitment, organisation and management of appropriate scouts. Reporting direct to the Academy Manager the Academy Head of Recruitment will be an ambassador not just for the academy, but for Morecambe Football Club, with a responsibility to ensure that the club’s strategic vision and purpose are understood by everyone they come into contact with. Main Duties & Responsibilities: • Recruit, organise and manage a team of local scouts to support the Academy and Youth Development Programme at all levels. • Produce and maintain a database of potential players from other Premier/Football League Clubs (Academy level 1/2) from ‘local grassroots’ football, liaising with the Academy Manager and Head of Coaching on all players deemed suitable. • Produce and maintain a database of all players at Academy Level who meet the desired Morecambe FC Academy Player Profile, and are deemed suitable for consideration to play for the Morecambe FC Academy. • Monitor identified players and report their progress on a regular basis, attending the scheduled 6-weekly Academy Management Team Meeting • Develop a network of scouting contacts within the North West Region and beyond, developing a communication strategy with this network in order to identify suitable players that meet the required Morecambe FC Academy Player Profile and are considered suitable for selection into Morecambe FC Academy. • Liaise with overseas scouts to extend the network beyond just the national pool of talent. • Continuously monitor and improve the recruitment process, ensuring that it is as effective as possible. • Liaise with the Academy Manager and Head of Coaching to ensure that the recruitment strategy is within budget. • Liaise with the Academy Manager, Head of Coaching, Lancaster & Morecambe College and the Community Trust Manager to develop and organise a ‘Player Talent Identification’ programme, whereby invited players can attend the Academy training/games programme during school holidays/half terms. • Ensure the Academy Manager and Head of Coaching are informed of all trialist players attending the Academy at any time, ensuring that all relevant documentation where required (EFL Youth Development Rules and Regulations) is completed and filed. • Oversee scouts to ensure they carry out their roles and responsibilities within the parameters of the Club/Academy Codes of Conduct, Policies and Procedures and documentation/player profiling requirements. • Understand, record and communicate specific details regarding the travel, accommodation and educational needs to the Academy Manager and Head of Coaching. • Provide input into the development of annual recruitment budgets and targets. • Attend the Academy Technical Board meeting as required • Attend and Complete the required mandatory training in Safeguarding and EFL, EDI online training courses and any other training that may be required to carry out this role.
