Job Overview
The Head of Financial Planning & Analysis is a key role in providing financial insight and analysis on all aspects of the Technical Services division's performance. The role is responsible for managing annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting cycles, as well as supporting longer-term business strategy. Reporting to the Financial Controller, and responsible for a small team, the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis will work closely with the wider Finance teams across the division and with the Group Financial Planning & Analysis team.
Main Duties
* Responsible for all aspects of financial performance and analysis within the Technical Services division.
* Create an investigative environment challenging the numbers to understand and interpret past and future performance to drive improvements.
* Support the Financial Controller in the interpretation and analysis of the division's consolidated results delivering monthly performance reporting, understanding and variance analysis.
* Preparation and presentation of information and analysis for/to the Finance Director, SLT, and Group.
* Develop strong relationships with senior stakeholders, operational and department heads.
* Management of annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting cycles.
* Provision of financial, business and segment analysis and insight to support strategy processes.
* Preparation of divisional cash flow budgets and forecasts, and monthly tracking of cash performance, liaising with Group Treasury, continuously refining and making improvements.
* Preparation of scenario analysis to identify profit-delivery opportunities or robustly stress-test plans.
* Lead the continuous improvement of the FP&A data, systems and processes, as well as the various planning processes.
* Ad-hoc projects and analysis as required.
What we are looking for
Knowledge & experience
* Professional accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
* 5+ years post-qualification financial performance & analysis experience within a complex division or company, ideally a FTSE250 plc.
* Proven ability to understand complex financial data and present data & analysis in a clear and concise format.
* Strong BI, analysis, and financial modelling skills; excellent knowledge of TM1; VBA and SQL skills desirable.
* Excellent knowledge of Excel and Word essential.
* Demonstrable ownership and management of budgeting and forecasting processes for a complex division.
* Demonstrable preparation of cash flow budgeting, forecasting and tracking.
* Proven ability to identify and drive process improvements.
