An opportunity has arisen within the Tooling department for a Core and Wax Tooling Technician, reporting to the Tooling Process Owner. This position operates on a night shift. Purpose: This is a technical role focused on supporting manufacturing operations at a press. Key success factors include ensuring product quality and minimising production downtime. Key Responsibilities: - Actively participate in the end-of-run process for production tooling. - Perform minor repairs on product-associated tooling. - Review reports generated from data collected during tool defect analysis and end-of-run pattern assessments. - Monitor tooling performance on the manufacturing line to ensure efficient production rates, identify necessary repairs, and pinpoint areas for improvement in tooling and pattern quality. - Employ root cause analysis methodologies to proactively identify and resolve tooling-related issues. - Participate in and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing process. - Provide support during the injection phase of new product implementation. - Provide timely support for urgent tooling requirements within the production environment. - Contribute to the reduction of downtime and scrap rates at the press. - Generate and analyse end-of-run reports for production tooling. - Develop and implement work procedures to meet established quality criteria, enhance productivity, and improve overall service levels. - Conduct NPI trials at the press, CNC machines, and finishing stations. - Assist manufacturing operations with die changeovers. Essential - Demonstrable knowledge of the injection process (manufacturing environment) - Competent skilled use of hand tools - Experience of working within a workshop - I.T. literate - Experience of report writing - Good communication skills both written and verbal Desirable - Ability to perform well under time / budget pressure - Competent at detailed and routine tasks - Knowledge of mould tools - Press knowledge and programming - Basic toolroom knowledge - Technician experience On-the-job training will be provided and tailored for the successful applicant Howmet Aerospace Inc.
