You will be working as part of a large property management team to deliver property maintenance services to a large property portfolio in the Elgin area. Working as a Housing Maintenance Officer, you will work on a temporary contract, likely to span 9–12 months. This role is a temporary position with Hays on behalf of our client, offering an immediate start which could lead to a long-term permanent role for the right individual.
Your new role
In your new role, you will proactively work on identifying defects and repairs required for housing stock. Working to review the condition of externals such as roofing, gutters and fencing in the first instance. You will also be involved in larger projects such as kitchen & bathroom replacements.
By reviewing the current conditions, you will then provide rmendations for repairs and put together a specification of what would be required. In addition to this, you will then monitor the work as it ispleted, with a final review of the work whenpleted. Working as part of a team, you will drive positive behaviour and attitudes to proactive maintenance planning and driving solutions forward. Your role will involve a mixture of travelling across the Elgin area to survey properties and office-based work, where you will be logging information and writing reports.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you will ideally hold a qualification such as an SVQ or a HNC in a construction or surveying discipline. Previous experience in a housing or property maintenance role would be desirable. Technical knowledge of maintenance and construction would be desirable in order for you to confidently work with contractors and consultants toplete the work. This role could be an ideal option for a skilled tradesperson to take a step off the tools and use their practical knowledge and experience in a more supervisory capacity. You must have good IT skills, be able to produce reports and keep all records up-to-date. An ability tomunicate with tenants, your wider team and external contractors is also essential. You must also hold a full driving licence as travel will be required in this role as you will work across a range of properties.
