Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a distinctive, unique institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region and with a global presence. Our students and staff, past, present, and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community. We couldn’t exist anywhere else and have shaped the city in which we belong. Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of why we were founded and why we exist today.
The Faculty of Health strives to tackle health inequalities, social exclusion, and deprivation, both locally and beyond, through its undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, and an expanding programme of international partnerships and student opportunities. Situated within the Faculty of Health, the School of Nursing and Advanced Practice was established to enhance focus on undergraduate/postgraduate nursing and advanced multidisciplinary practice. The School has a long, proud history in nurse education and a sector-leading postgraduate provision. It has a reputation for its outstanding graduates and researchers, as well as for its significant portfolio which is growing each year with various local, regional, and national programmes. The School holds influence in the Advanced Practice agenda regionally and plays a key role in the development of the current and future health workforce.
We are now seeking to appoint an outstanding individual as Principal Lecturer in Postgraduate Nursing on a full-time, permanent basis. Reporting to the Subject Head of Post Graduate Nursing and Advanced Practice, you will work alongside Programme Leaders to develop our high-quality educational provision and responsive curricula. You will provide leadership over curriculum development and enhancement of the portfolio whilst also line managing academic staff engaged in teaching, research, and enterprise. Working closely with the Subject Head, you will be responsible for the academic development and delivery of high-quality taught programmes in Postgraduate Nursing, including Post registration, CPD and Advanced Practice programmes.
Importantly, the student experience is at the heart of everything we do, therefore a key area of focus and responsibility for this role will be towards sustained retention, the delivery of an effective curriculum, supported progression, and positive outcomes for our students. We strive to help develop socially engaged practitioners and future leaders and believe that this can be done through committed and forward-thinking academic teams. By joining the School, you will also be joining a passionate and committed community of academics and professional support staff, and an environment that recognises, celebrates, and rewards your successes. Our staff has significant real-world experience and expertise from a range of disciplines, which means that we are able to support your endeavours and provide mentorship as you grow in your role. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside the Subject Head to build upon existing collaborative partnerships with health and social care providers and help respond to any future challenges and opportunities that may arise.
In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction, and development support as well as family-friendly policies.
This is an exciting time to join the university as we deliver the LJMU Strategy 2030 and its vision of LJMU as an inclusive civic university transforming lives and futures, by placing students at the heart of everything we do.
If you feel that this is the role you have been looking for and your skills and experience can make a real difference at LJMU, we look forward to hearing from you.
At LJMU, we value the benefits a rich and diverse workforce brings to our community and provides a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can fulfil their potential.
