GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Support Worker to join a dynamic school in Christchurch. This is a fantastic opportunity to support students with special educational needs and help them achieve their full potential.
About the Role
As an SEN Support Worker, you will be a key figure in supporting students with special educational needs. You will provide one-on-one and group support to help students manage their learning and behavioural challenges. You will develop and implement support strategies and work closely with teachers and other staff to create a positive learning environment. Your role will also involve supporting students in developing social skills and emotional resilience, monitoring and recording their progress, and liaising with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to develop individualized support plans that cater to the unique academic and behavioural needs of each student.
* Provide targeted assistance to students through one-on-one sessions, focusing on specific areas where they need improvement, such as reading, writing, or managing behavioural challenges.
* Encourage positive behaviour and help students develop strategies to manage their emotions and actions.
* Work with teachers to ensure that the classroom is a supportive and inclusive space for all students.
* Keep detailed records of student progress and behaviour and provide regular updates to teachers and parents.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student needs and coordinate support efforts.
Requirements
* Experience working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable.
* A strong commitment to helping students with special educational needs succeed.
* Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
* Collaboration is key in this role, and you should be able to work well with others.
* Any relevant qualifications or training will be an advantage.
To work with GSL Education as an SEN Support Worker, you will need:
* Have the right to work in the UK
* Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
* Have a DBS registered to the Updated Service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
