Reference: 020a66a5 We are looking to recruit a support worker to provide enabling support and care for a very happy, unique 7-year-old boy to provide him with positive interaction and care according to specific targets. He is a non-communicative boy, with no understanding of risk or danger. He therefore requires somebody who can always ensure his safety and well-being in an appropriate setting/environment, including occasional excursions. Main Duties To provide a safe home environment. To give support care and guidance helping to achieve development and targets. Support with feeding is required. Moving and handling is a necessity, as child is not able to walk very far and requires a pushchair when out. Support with personal care; including changing of nappies, and regular changing of bibs. Car driver is essential and must have Business Insurance. Hours 5 hours per week on a Sunday (x 52 weeks) with an additional 5 hours in all school holidays (x 13 weeks) per year (additional day to be discussed at interview) Rates of pay £13.09 per hour. Holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks per year pro-rata. Person Specification The successful applicant must: · Have experience and a positive understanding about children who have additional needs · Have a genuine interest in working with children with complex requirements · Have a high degree of initiative · Honest, reliable, Punctual and trustworthy with a caring nature · Respect confidentiality is a must · A full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance. Further Information: Out of pocket expenses will be met by the Employer. This post is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate (DBS) will have to be obtained for the successful candidate (at employer’s expense). Training: Where it is required, such as in Health and Safety matters, practical training and guidance will be arranged, and the care worker will be expected to attend. This will include moving and handling, medication awareness and additional training specific to the client.
