Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for someone to join our friendly and experienced secretarial team at our two-site surgery. We are looking for a candidate who is enthusiastic and enjoys working in a busy environment.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role are to work closely with the current secretarial team, sharing the workload, following practice procedures to ensure that referrals are dealt with in a timely manner.
Liaising with external agencies such as hospitals and community services.
Checking the generic email address.
Supporting all grades of staff with general administrative tasks as requested.

We are a friendly rural GP practice based over 2 sites in Guilsborough and Brixworth.
7 of our GP's are Partners and we have 5 Salaried GP's and 1 regular Locum GP, who work alongside our excellent Nursing Team of Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants. We are a training practice and have Trainee Registrars working at the practice. We also have an experienced and supportive Administration Team.

Job responsibilities:
1. To provide an efficient medical secretary service for GP's and health professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, minutes etc. in an accurate and timely manner.
2. Create and send referrals as directed by the clinicians, effectively and promptly, using the appropriate templates and procedures and ensuring that urgent referrals are processed on the same day.
3. Maintenance of the e-referral advice and guidance work list. Keeping up to date with referral pathway and informing colleagues of any changes
4. To book hospital appointments for referrals as required.
5. Liaise with hospital services in relation to GP and patient enquiries.
6. Checking the generic email address
7. To establish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secure.
8. To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.
9. To maintain the computer clinic system in an accurate and secure manner.
10. To assist in training and development of new team members.
11. Working with and as part of, the whole practice team, to deliver excellent care, communicating directly with the appropriate person.

Qualifications
Essential
12. Good standard of general education including GCSE English and Maths Grade C and above (or equivalent level of qualification)
