PAYROLL OFFICER
PART TIME: 30 hours per week
LOCATION: Cannock, Staffordshire
SALARY: £14.85 per hour

The Opportunity:
To support both the business and the function in this essential role, by working with the People Team and Line Managers to process
the payroll each period and liaise with the Payroll bureau to ensure the payroll function runs smoothly and people are paid
correctly and on time. To maintain Payroll related records, preparing associated accounting transactions and documents, as well
as the provision of management reports.
Your key responsibilities will include
* Working with the HR Assistants to process payroll information for staff including processing statutory payments, e.g. Statutory
Maternity Payments, Statutory Paternity Payments, Shared Parental Leave, Statutory Sick Payments and Time Off for Public
Duties.
* Maintain and prepare payroll data for transfer to the third party provider for processing.
* Maintaining the Holiday overtime spreadsheet and Flexible workers Holiday pay spreadsheet each period.
* Working with the Payroll Bureau to ensure RTI reports are submitted and payments regarding PAYE, NI, Attachment of earnings
Orders, and SAYE etc. are processed in accordance with the regulatory authorities
* Creation of Payroll KPIs and reports as requested
* Provide advice and guidance on policies, procedures and employment legislation in relation to administration processes,
payroll, pension and benefits.
* Maintenance and processing of the auto-enrolment pension scheme
* Completing all wage related information requests, e.g. SSP1, mortgage references, insurance return of wages etc.
* Monitoring of absence related information, e.g. Holidays, sickness, other authorised absence for payment purposes and the
production of weekly absence statistics
* Working with the Payroll provider to process year end information and documentation e.g. P35, P11D
* Covering all day-to-day payroll activities in the absence of the HR Assistant Payroll
* Lead person for the HR & Payroll Database. Liaising with the IT team and the database consultant to ensure that it is
maintained and records up-to-date information.
* Other ad hoc duties that are commensurate with the role
What we are looking for:
A recognised Payroll qualification (ideal) and at least 4 years minimum Payroll experience with an excellent understanding of
statutory deductions and general payroll principles and a good knowledge of HMRC tax codes, SSP payments.
You will have excellent interpersonal and customer-facing skills and a professional telephone manner with absolute discretion with
confidential information.
You will have strong numeracy skills and high levels of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong computer skills, with an above
average working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
