Successful candidate will provide clear and positive leadership to enable the practice to continue meeting its agreed aims and objectives within a profitable, efficient, safe, and effective working environment. As well as meeting our contractual obligations with NHS England (NHSE), you will maintain compliance with all aspects of Health & Safety and employment legislation, CQC (Care Quality Commission) regulations and facilities management/compliance. You will work with the Partners to oversee cashflow and budgets, and lead on project management.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide robust, conscientious leadership and have a sound knowledge of strategic business management, financial planning and HR. You will be expected to manage and coordinate all aspects of practice functionality, motivating and managing staff, optimising efficient financial performance, and overseeing all daily operations.
You will set the direction along with the partners for the practice to maximise efficiency, income, manage budgets and achieve long-term strategic objectives. You will have the support of two deputy practice managers who will assist with much of the day-to-day operational responsibilities, but you will be responsible for the financial management and representing the practice externally.
About us
New Seaham Medical Group is a long established, friendly GP practice in County Durham. We have 4 Partners, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 2 Practice Nurses, 2 Healthcare Assistants as well as a team of dedicated and supportive administrative staff and ARRS staff. We currently have a list size of 4,600 patients. We are highly involved in our PCN (South Durham) and through this we benefit from Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, mental health workers, Social link workers. We use SystmOne Clinical system.
Job responsibilities
The job role is broad, but can be briefly summarised into the following areas:
1. Strategic management & planning, identifying opportunities for income generation, managing external contracts.
2. Financial management using Xero, pensions, budget forecasts, cash flow, liaising with accountants, insurances, practice bank account management supported by finance officer and partnership.
3. Recruitment and HR (clinical and admin), appraisals, absence management, succession planning. Managing staff recruitment and retention.
4. Manage patient services, overview of clinic provision, dealing with patients including complaints. Health and Safety management. Data governance compliance.
5. Communication internally and externally building relationships with partners locally, regionally and ensuring readiness for CQC.
6. Representing the practice externally to include working with PCN, Federation, Integrated Neighbourhood teams and the ICB etc.
7. Monitoring and optimising the achievement of clinical targets such as QoF, IIF and such local and national enhanced services.

Qualifications
* Educated in healthcare management, business or accountancy Excellent literacy, numeracy and IT skills
* Higher level Accountancy and / or Financial Management Qualification
Experience
