About the role The Product and Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive marketing and product strategies that align with the Societys overall business objectives. This role requires a strategic approach to driving member growth, enhancing product offerings, and building brand awareness across multiple channels. Reporting to Business Development and Marketing Manager. working closely with internal teams and external partners, the role will oversee a broad range of marketing initiatives and ensure that all products meet the regulatory and customer needs of the Society. Responsibilities and experience required Marketing Strategy & Campaign Management: Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans aligned with the Societys overall business objectives, ensuring all marketing efforts contribute to the strategic goals. Collaborate with colleagues across departments to produce and implement marketing campaigns for products, including advertising, events, sponsorships, digital marketing, social media, and content marketing. Work closely with colleagues on communications campaigns to build external brand awareness, reflecting the Societys values and mutual ethos. Oversee the creation and distribution of marketing materials (e.g., leaflets, posters, presentations, digital content), working closely with internal teams and external agencies to ensure high-quality output. Product Management: Manage, design, and create mortgage and savings products, ensuring they meet the needs of the Societys members and align with the strategic goals of growth and member engagement, whilst ensuring regulatory compliance. Analyse market trends, competitor activities, and client needs to identify opportunities for product differentiation and growth, making data-driven decisions to refine product offerings. Collaborate with the Intermediary and Direct mortgage teams to create targeted marketing initiatives that support business development and improve product reach. Digital and Social Media Marketing: Oversee website management, working alongside an external agency to optimise user experience, enhance SEO performance, and explore PPC opportunities for lead generation and brand visibility. Manage social media channels, including the creation of engaging posts, boosting posts where applicable, and maintaining a consistent brand voice across platforms. Write and distribute press releases to enhance public relations efforts and increase the Societys visibility in the media. Budget and Resource Management: Work within the marketing budget, ensuring resources are effectively allocated across campaigns and marketing channels to achieve maximum ROI. Monitor and report on marketing campaign performance, using MI (Management Information) for intermediary and direct mortgage business to track effectiveness and suggest continuous improvements. Stakeholder Collaboration & Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including internal teams, external agencies, and industry partners, ensuring alignment on objectives and the successful execution of initiatives. Collaborate with colleagues in the intermediary and direct mortgage teams, ensuring the marketing strategy supports both the intermediary and direct sales channels. Continuous Improvement & Industry Awareness: Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices to ensure the Society remains competitive, innovative, and compliant within the evolving financial services landscape. Provide insights and recommendations based on marketing performance, competitor analysis, and industry trends, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Relevant certifications in digital marketing, product management, or financial services (e.g., FCA-regulated financial promotions, Google Ads, CIM certifications) are a plus. Knowledge / Skills Proven experience in product management and marketing, with a strong focus on financial services, ideally within a UK building society or mutual organisation. Expertise in digital marketing strategies including SEO, PPC, social media, and content creation, with a demonstrated ability to drive engagement and customer acquisition. Strong understanding of FCA regulations and financial promotions, ensuring all marketing efforts comply with relevant industry standards and legislation. Excellent project management skills, able to manage multiple campaigns and product initiatives simultaneously, with a focus on delivering results. Strong analytical abilities, using data to measure performance, optimise campaigns, and inform product development. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and present data-driven insights to senior leadership.
