Overview:
Due to expansion, we are looking for an Engineer to join the team. This position may suit a mechanically minded person, who is either a motor mechanic interested in engineering and wants a career change.
You will work closely with the Senior Technical Engineer, Production and Project Management team.
Your responsibilities will include building, testing, and servicing our range of deployment hoists, thrusters, and hydraulic cylinders.
You will carry out internal and external testing and work with classification societies for product approval.
Traveling overseas and within the UK to conduct installations, repairs, and commissioning of our range of products will be required.
Specific Activities Include:
1. Assembling, testing, and servicing the Company's entire range of deployment hoists, bow and stern thrusters, as well as hydraulic cylinders and other related hydraulic systems.
2. Updating build manuals and recording defects/non-conformances/test data/continuous improvements.
3. Responsibility for quality assurance on assembly of all products you build.
4. Field work regarding installation, repairs, or servicing matters.
5. Providing feedback to the design department on continuous improvements to easy assembly, improve serviceability, and reduce assembly time.
6. Assisting in general engineering and development of the product ranges, including occasional office-based tasks.
7. Other duties as defined by the Board of Directors.
Candidate Requirements:
* Prior mechanical experience essential.
* Hydraulic and gearbox systems experience an advantage but not necessary.
* Must hold appropriate paperwork to travel abroad.
* Willingness to travel overseas at short notice.
* Confidently speak with clients and be the main point of contact.
* Must hold a valid UK driving licence.
* Punctual, self-motivated, able to focus on tasks and work without direct supervision.
* Must maintain a clean working environment.
* Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
* Good numerical skills essential.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Ability to multitask.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
* Willingness to work extended hours as needed.
* Team player.
