Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR (dependent on experience)
Our client, a dynamic and forward-thinking secondary academy based in Braintree, Essex, is seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced MFL (Modern Foreign Languages) Curriculum Lead to drive excellence in teaching and learning across the department.
This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an ambitious MFL teacher with a proven track record of raising attainment and leading curriculum innovation. You will play a key role in shaping the direction of the MFL department, supporting both staff and students in achieving outstanding outcomes in French and Spanish.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of a high-quality MFL curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a focus on French and Spanish.
2. Support, mentor, and develop members of the MFL team to ensure consistently excellent teaching and learning.
3. Monitor student progress and implement strategies for raising achievement and closing attainment gaps.
4. Contribute to whole-school language and literacy initiatives, ensuring curriculum alignment with national expectations.
5. Work closely with senior leadership to drive strategic improvement and maintain a culture of high standards.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
1. QTS and a degree in French, Spanish, or a related subject.
2. Proven experience of leading curriculum development or contributing to department leadership.
3. A strong understanding of current educational practice, assessment frameworks, and effective pedagogy in MFL.
4. Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire both staff and students.
5. A commitment to professional development and a passion for raising educational outcomes in Modern Foreign Languages.
