We are looking to recruit a B6 Specialist Physiotherapist for our Neurological Rehabilitation Unit at Trafford General Hospital. The post will require the successful applicant to work as part of the multidisciplinary team on the Intermediate Neurorehabilitation Unit to deliver neurological rehabilitation, support with discharges and complex case management.
Main duties of the job
The post holder should have proven practical skills in neurological physiotherapy, with competent respiratory skills. You should have excellent communication skills, evidence of acute neurological management and rehabilitation skills, multidisciplinary working and experience of complex discharge planning within the NHS.
You will have skills in therapeutic handling, normal movement, upper limb rehabilitation, spasticity management, specialist seating and positioning.
Alongside the clinical work, the successful applicant will contribute to the supervision and appraisal of junior staff with support from the senior therapy team. You will have proven clinical skills and a strong commitment to Multi-Disciplinary Team working. You will be able to deliver specialist training and education to junior staff and students as well as multi-disciplinary colleagues.
The therapy neurorehabilitation team is ward based and made up of OT's, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Neuropsychologists and Rehabilitation Assistants who work closely with nursing and medical colleagues to deliver excellent neurological rehabilitation.
You will be expected to contribute to the Physiotherapy on-call service and weekend working.

Person Specification
Educational/Qualifications
* Recognised BSC Honours degree in physiotherapy or equivalent
* State registration via Health and Care Professions Council
* Evidence of relevant post graduate training including attendance at relevant specialist courses
* Registered member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
Knowledge and Experience
* Previous postgraduate clinical experience as a junior in a broad rotational post
* Specialist knowledge of physiotherapy assessment and treatment technique
* Evidence of Continual Professional Development
* Experience of and commitment to interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary team working.
* Experience of supervision of students and assistants
* Evidence of contribution to clinical education and in-service training of less experienced staff/students and assistants
* Understanding of clinical effectiveness and its implications for services including experience of quality issues, audit and evidence based practice.
* Demonstrate knowledge of safeguarding practices relevant to the clinical area
* Knowledge of local and national policies and procedures - HCPC and CSP Codes of Conduct, BSRM, NICE, Infection Control, Manual Handling, etc.
* To have attended a clinical educators course
* Previous experience in a post at this level
* Knowledge of the working of community and Intermediate Care Services
* Evidence of participation in research
* Evidence of completion of relevant neuro rehab courses (i.e. Introduction to Bobath concept)
