The Safeguarding in Education Team is part of the Directorate of Children, Families and Schools and sits within the Children, Young People, Education and Schools service area. The primary role of the team is to support educational establishments within the Council area to safeguard and protect children and young people, through developing and maintaining effective safeguarding practice and culture, in line with statutory requirements and best practice.
There is a potential opportunity to combine this fixed-term position with a permanent role until 31st August 2025, adding an additional 18.5 hours per week. This would create a full-time position of 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday.
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with direct and extensive experience of safeguarding in education settings to join this dynamic and highly supportive team. Your role will include direct work with education settings and working with partners from other agencies/departments, using your education safeguarding knowledge and expertise to develop best practice and contribute to decisions in relation to child protection, safeguarding, and early help. You will also offer support and challenge to educational establishments to improve their strategic and operational safeguarding practice. A key part of the role will also involve supporting directly on a rota basis, the work undertaken in the Safeguarding and Partnership Hub and working on projects that the team is involved in, as well as developing and delivering training.
