Job overview
The postholder will work closely with our patients, their carers and the wider communities to involve them and improve the quality of services that we deliver at King’s College Hospital.
Main duties of the job
1. To support the delivery of the Trust’s BOLD strategy by ensuring that patient experience objectives and key workstreams are delivered within timescales and budgets as outlined in the annual plan.
2. To deliver measurable improvements for patients and their families/carers.
3. To oversee services and projects that contribute to improvements in patients’ and carers’ experiences.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* To support the delivery of the Trust’s BOLD strategy by ensuring that patient experience objectives and key workstreams are delivered within timescales and budgets as outlined in the annual plan and system wide strategy.
* To clearly articulate plans and deliver objectives of the patient experience function at King’s College Hospital, monitoring and reporting on progress of implementation for areas of responsibility.
* To implement, monitor and evaluate effective practice.
* To support the development of business plans in patient experience and maintaining relationships with external providers.
Person specification
Education and qualification
* Educated to master’s degree level or equivalent experience.
* Evidence of recent role related or continued professional development.
Knowledge and experience
* Substantial previous experience of leading a team in a patient experience or customer service in the public or private sector.
* Professional knowledge of patient experience agenda gained through significant experience as a senior manager leading on a patient experience portfolio.
* Track record of developing high performing team with extensive experience of delivering against ambitious targets.
* Experience of collecting, analysing and presenting highly complex data in a variety of reports and media, including oral presentations suitable for the audience.
* Experience of producing accessible reports and presenting these to stakeholders across all levels.
* Experience of situational leadership, human resource management and people development.
* Experience of working collaboratively with others, including patients, to make improvements.
* An understanding of current issues, agendas and plans within and impacting on the NHS.
* Expert knowledge of role related agenda and compliance requirements.
Skills and competencies
* Ability to interpret national guidance into local action plans and operating procedures.
* Ability to think clearly under pressure, analyse complex situations, reach decisions and take appropriate actions.
* Ability to produce reports and dashboards to a high standard, interpreting complex data for others with exceptional attention to detail.
* Ability to project manage multiple projects.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to write reports in various styles for a variety of audiences and present confidently and persuasively to large and small groups.
* Ability to empathise with the situation of others and to advocate on their behalf.
* Highly patient/customer focused who consistently thinks about how their work can benefit patients and the public, and help frontline staff to provide better experiences.
* Confident user of MS Office applications.
* Ability to influence and negotiate with staff of all grades/professional groups.
* Ability to train team to required standards.
* Ability to work without supervision in a challenging and busy environment while meeting tight deadlines.
* Willing to travel across all sites associated with the Trust.
* Flexibility and adaptability to working hours and requirements to meet service need.
