General Assistant Staff Casual Basis
Canterbury Cathedral Lodge, located within the Precincts of the world-famous Canterbury Cathedral, is looking to add to its bank of employees of General Assistants.
Our General Assistants are required to work in several areas at the Lodge including ensuring the food and beverage service at all types of events meet the required standards, deputising for the Catering Manager and Conference and Banqueting Supervisors by taking responsibility for the smooth running and service delivery of an event, as well as general cleaning and reception and ad-hoc duties.
Candidates for the general assistant position must be fully flexible in their approach to hours as shifts will include evenings, weekends and public holidays and hours worked will depend on operational needs.
If you would like to be a part of a busy team who consistently offer a high level of customer service, then we would love to hear from you.
The role of General Assistant is offered on a casual/zero hours basis. The successful candidate(s) can choose the option that best suits their needs and work/life balance.
What is the difference between a contracted and casual/zero hours role?
- A contracted role requires the employee to work a set number of hours and/or working pattern.
- A casual/zero hours role is one where the employer offers the employee work when it arises, and the employee chooses whether to accept the work offered on that occasion. The employer does not guarantee the employee any hours of work.
Any casual/zero hour appointed employee who has worked in a steady pattern for 6 months has, by law, the right to request a contracted role with a set number of hours and/or working pattern.
As applications are received, interviews may take place prior to the advertised closing date.
We reserve the right to close this advertisement early if we receive a high volume of suitable applications.
