Independent Technical Assessor (SAR Testing)

We are seeking an Independent Technical Assessor with specialised knowledge of SAR testing to ensure the quality and compliance of testing laboratories in this critical area.
About the Role:
As an Independent Technical Assessor, you will evaluate organisations performing Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) testing, ensuring conformance with national and international standards. You will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of SAR testing, which measures how much radio frequency (RF) energy is absorbed by the body from wireless devices.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assess SAR testing laboratories to ensure adherence to national and international standards.
* Review SAR testing methodologies, including physical test protocols and measurement processes.
* Evaluate laboratories’ ability to determine RF energy absorption accurately, ensuring compliance with measurement uncertainty principles.
* Monitor developments in global forums and technical advancements influencing SAR testing and RF safety standards.
* Provide comprehensive reports with findings and recommendations to maintain the highest levels of compliance and quality assurance.
What We’re Looking For:
Qualifications:
* Ideally, academically qualified to degree level in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
* Proven experience in SAR testing or closely related areas of RF testing is essential.
* Consideration may also be given to candidates with substantial practical experience in SAR testing, even if formal academic qualifications are lower.
Experience:
* Extensive theoretical and practical expertise in Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) testing processes, protocols, and methodologies.
* A strong understanding of RF energy absorption principles and the associated health and safety implications.
* In-depth knowledge of the national and international standards governing SAR testing, including ISO/IEC 17025.
* Awareness of global forums, regulatory developments, and industry trends influencing SAR testing standards and practices.
* Significant hands-on experience in SAR testing, preferably within an accredited testing laboratory or similar environment.
* Familiarity with the entire SAR testing process, including a robust understanding of measurement uncertainty principles and calibration procedures.
