You’ll have experience of working with oil tankers, gas carriers, and floating production or storage vessels. Fluent spoken and written English is essential, and you should have excellent presentation and Microsoft Office skills.
We’ll also expect you to have knowledge of:
1. Marine engineering, covering basic propulsion systems, cargo transfer systems, and outfit equipment
2. Marine project engineering (design)
3. Ship structures and structural analysis
4. Rules, Regulations, and Standards covering the design, operation, inspection, and maintenance of the above identified ship types and offshore structures
5. Project management
6. Construction supervision and site management
We have a vacant oil and gas industry position as Naval Architect in London, UK, Europe vacant at Shell UK. The job opening is in the Engineering and Marine department at Shell Europe where you will be an important team member.
As a Naval Architect, you will prepare the Structural Integrity Strategies and oversee the inspections required to maintain the structural integrity of onshore and offshore oil production facilities and FPSOs. Your duties will include:
1. Prepare and maintain Structural Inspection Strategies and develop and issue detailed inspection work scopes/work packs for topside and subsea.
2. Responsible for ensuring the integrity of design, fabrication, and installation of new fixed offshore steel structures for Greenfield oil & gas development projects, structure modification work for Brownfield projects, and the integrity of existing fixed offshore steel structures (jacket, piles, foundation, topsides, modules, bridges & miscellaneous structures).
Provide specialist skills, integrity, and knowledge in key areas of discipline engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements, and current good engineering practice. Understand clients’ needs; identify and address design parameters and problems; develop and implement innovative solutions.
