The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Garment Technologist to ensure the highest quality standards across our product range. This role will involve working on the entire garment development process, from initial tech packs to the sealing stage, ensuring a flawless fit and finish. The Senior Garment Technologist will lead fit sessions, manage technical communication with factories, and play a key role in developing core block libraries.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct daily fit sessions for new product development.
* Manage the product development from initial tech pack to sealing stage.
* Lead fit sessions both in-person and digitally, providing clear and concise feedback to factories for sample improvements.
* Provide post-fit technical notes, including annotated photographs, to factories and the wider product development team.
* Manage the team in developing and maintaining core block libraries across fabrics and shapes, ensuring accurate specs for design teams.
* Maintain consistency in measurement systems and grading rules, ensuring alignment with our core customer base.
* Support factories and the buying team with technical construction queries and resolve mass production issues.
* Collaborate with the product development team to elevate garment fit and finish.
* Conduct returns analysis fit sessions alongside monthly returns reporting, providing actionable feedback to factories, marketing, and warehouse teams to reduce return rates.
* Lead ad hoc projects, including virtual fitting innovations, in-house bra support development, competitive shopping, and new block creation trials.
* Work closely with the design team to review technical packs and oversee initial collection handovers with factories.
* Advise factories on appropriate wash care and additional testing requirements based on product type.
* Mentor and train junior technologists, fostering confidence and growth within the team.
* Monitor product development through the critical path, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining Oh Polly's high-quality standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Education: Degree in Fashion Technology, Textile Science, or a related field.
* Experience: Proven experience as a Senior Garment Technologist within a fashion brand, preferably in womenswear. (Occasional wear, dresses, jersey wear / multiproduct).
* Strong technical knowledge of garment construction, fitting, and grading.
* Ability to lead and conduct fit sessions independently.
* Experience working with offshore factories and managing technical communications.
* Skilled in pattern-cutting, fabric properties, and garment testing procedures.
* Excellent problem-solving abilities for production-related challenges.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to mentor and develop junior team members.
* Must be willing to travel.
