Products we supply hold, join, terminate and protect our customers vital cable assets. This role will give the successful candidate the opportunity to work as part of our UK R&D team and experience the dynamics of a busy technical engineering environment. What you will be doing? A vacancy has arisen within our Components business for an accessories Development and Test Engineering Technician to ensure the continued development and testing of LV and MV accessories to meet the requirements of both the utility and industrial customers. The position is responsible for the running of the busy Components laboratory. Key Responsibilities To undertake development and testing activities on a range of low and medium voltage accessories. Run the laboratory test programmes including low and high voltage electrical testing to British and International standards Carry out and mechanical testing in line with the requirements of British and International standards. Build test samples and test rigs in line with the designs of the R&D team As part of the Design and development process collate and report results of ongoing test programmes to the electrical products engineer and other R&D teams. Provides support for product familiarization both at a customer’s site and in the Components laboratory. Provides training and supervision on laboratory test equipment to the team. Manages the maintenance and calibration programmes of the laboratory test equipment. Who We Are Looking For An electrical engineer qualified to HNC or equivalent. Experience in a test or installation environment would be beneficial but not essential Knowledge of electrical systems Knowledge of data logging would be advantageous A working knowledge of Microsoft office is essential Personal Characteristics Self motivated and driven individual. Well organised with a positive attitude. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work as part of a team and independently. Professional attitude to work. Practical and hands on with laboratory work.
