The Nursing Staffing Department’s Resource Nurse Manager is responsible for oversight of house-wide clinical support and administrative services including IV Therapy, Wound Nurse services, Med Surge Resource Nurses, Float Pool, staffing, scheduling, for the Nursing Department. The Resource Nurse Manager collaborates with Nursing Leadership to review and develop schedules based on agreed upon staffing guidelines, models and grids to meet patient care needs, utilizing staff time efficiently and cost effectively.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
1. Participates in the development of staffing schedules for assigned areas; forecasts staffing needs based on established staffing grids and adapts for fluctuating patient populations on a unit basis. Census interface and staffing matrixes and adjusts daily staffing on all units and shifts according to actual and projected volumes.
* Supports Nurse Leaders and staffing office in maintaining safe staffing levels at all times.
* Collaborates with fellow Nurse Leaders in identifying daily cost saving opportunities to minimize use of overtime and 1:1 staffing.
1. Oversees staffing office daily operations and provides direction in the reassignment of staff as needed, based upon census, adhering to Nursing Department policies, including adherence to grids and maintaining clinical competencies for floated staff.
2. Works with Finance Resource Manager to identify creation of reports for senior Nursing leadership and administration as directed by Management. Utilizes the staffing and scheduling system to produce regular and ad hoc reports to identify optimally cost effective and safe patient care.
* Develops short-term strategies and long-term plans to provide optimal staffing patterns for patient care.
* Identifies current needs for use of equipment and assists the Patient Care Director/Administrative Director projects future capital budget items.
* Ensures Medical Center's mission statement by participating in the ongoing development and implementation of the philosophy and goals of the Nursing Division.
3. Participates on committees, task forces, interdisciplinary forums that are concerned with patient care.
4. Oversight of Med Surg Resource Nursing Team, IV Team, Wound Team and Float Pool.
5. Handles confidential performance evaluations and disciplinary documentation.
6. Performs related duties, as required.
The Nurse Manager is a management/leadership position within the Medical Center Organization and operationalizes the core values of the Organization by promoting patient centered care.
* The Nurse Manager has twenty four hour responsibility/accountability for the units' operations. Patient care outcomes are the result of interdisciplinary collaboration coordinated by the Patient Care Director.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
* Bachelor's degree in nursing required / master's or matriculation in a master's program required.
Demonstrate knowledge of Nursing in one or more assigned areas.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
* Current license to practice Nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
* BLS certification.
Training:
* Must obtain 15 hours of Continuing Education annually to maintain license.

* Shall be accountable for maintaining the confidentiality and security of all Medical Center-related, Medical Staff-related, and patient related data and information.
* Shall be accountable for abiding by all relevant Medical Center Policies and Procedures.
* Shall be accountable for operating the Nursing Division in accordance with applicable State and Federal Regulations, and standard-setting organizations.
* Shall be accountable for patient care provided on the assigned Nursing units.
EXPERIENCE:
* Minimum of 2 years Nurse Leader experience.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
* Ability to effectively manage expense budget as allocated.
* Ability to make formal presentations relative to clinical, operational or educational.
* Demonstrates leadership and management abilities.
