Standards Technician
We are seeking a talented Standards Technician to join our R&D department at our coastal office in Weymouth. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining and managing applications of current and developing technology for standard/catalogue parts, engineering materials, and related standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure all engineering material and related standards are relevant and up-to-date with national/international standards and regulations.
* Evaluate potential methods for carrying out engineering tasks and select the most appropriate solution.
* Apply knowledge to create/maintain engineering material and related standards.
* Identify, organize, and use resources effectively to complete tasks, considering cost, quality, safety, security, and environmental impact.
* Understand technical drawings, permits to work, instructions, or other similar documents after checking and identifying issues.
* Check requests for items meet H&S requirements.
* Prepare communications, documents, and reports on technical matters.
* Work within legislative and regulatory frameworks, including social and employment legislation.
* Carry out and record Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to maintain and enhance competence.
About You:
We're looking for an enthusiastic individual with a Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent level 6 qualification and mid-level experience. Alternatively, you may have a Level 5 qualification (HND) with senior-level experience or be an Incorporated Engineer with mid-level experience.
You Will Have:
* Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline / equivalent level 6 qualification with mid-level experience, OR Level 5 qualification (HND) with senior level experience, OR Incorporated Engineer with mid-level experience,
* Good understanding of functional mechanical/electromechanical design.
* Experienced in material specifications for engineering requirements.
* Knowledge of 3D CAD tools such as NX.
* Knowledge of product creation and change management processes.
* Competent in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
* Knowledge of BS8888 and/or ISO8015 drawing standards (Desirable).
* Knowledge of RoHS, REACH legislation in relation to Engineering Materials and Treatments (Desirable).
* Knowledge of SAP (Desirable).
