Our stunning care home, Guiseley Manor Care Centre, is a purpose-built 72-bed facility situated in the town of Guiseley, in the heart of West Yorkshire, Leeds. The home provides the highest standards of safety, comfort, and care to residents with various care needs. We offer residential, nursing, and dementia care. The home reflects the New Care vision of providing the highest standards of safety, comfort, and care. We invest in the latest technology and offer a purposeful programme of daily activities and gentle exercise to enhance the experience, care, and wellbeing of our residents. All team members are carefully selected for their warmth and passion, undergo a full induction, and receive ongoing training from our in-house trainers in conjunction with the New Care Academy. New Care has not used agency staff for over 4 years, as we employ a permanent staff team to ensure continuity of care from staff who know and residents trust. Across New Care, all staff are paid the national living wage or above.
We are seeking to appoint a motivated and experienced Chef to join our team. The role involves working with the Head Chef to ensure a high quality of food service is provided to support residents, responsive to their needs, and contributes to their overall positive experience of living in the home. We have a 40 hours contract available with an hourly rate of £12.75. Shift times are 07:30-17:30, with alternate weekend working.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Ensure that menus are presented and displayed in a way that residents can understand them and make daily choices about what they wish to eat during the day.
2. Ensure that meals are provided in sufficient quantities, taking into account diets to meet medical, ethnic, and personal needs and preferences.
3. Ensure all food is nutritionally balanced, attractively presented for service in a timely manner, and in the correct sequence.
4. Understand, follow, and adhere to company HACCP policies, ensuring full compliance.
5. Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen and serving areas, uphold high standards of infection control, and adhere to the Food Standards Act 1999, keeping cleaning rotas and records up to date.
6. Manage, allocate duties, and supervise the kitchen team in the absence of the Head Chef, ensuring quality service delivery.
7. Inspire and motivate the team to produce food to high standards.
Skills and Experience Required:
1. Experience working during busy meal periods, including breakfast and evening service.
2. Experience working in a care home or similar environment.
3. Knowledge of specialized diets and service delivery.
4. Ability to contribute to and develop the four-week menu.
5. Ability to complete records demonstrating adherence to legal requirements.
