Description
This is an exciting opportunity at a time of significant change within the energy sector.
As a senior credit controller reporting into the credit manager, you will be part of the credit team involved in managing a portfolio of client relationships with a primary focus of reducing aged debt, improving debtor days and cashflow.
What will you do?
1. Maintaining positive relationships with internal & external customers while effectively mitigating credit risks and ensuring timely collections
2. Collecting overdue debts on the phone (expectation to contact clients predominately by phone)
3. Achieving monthly targets focusing on debtor day & cashflow improvement & aged debt reduction
4. Investigate, resolve & collect historical aged debt + identify accounts requiring further action (3rd party DCAs / solicitors)
5. Help to clear unallocated balances
6. Assist with weekly cash flow reporting
7. Ensuring debt cases are processed to SLA
8. Identifying and escalating higher risk debts
9. Query discovery and resolution
10. Managing more difficult accounts with a hands-on approach, achieving settlements and ongoing adherence to contractual terms by settling up negotiation processes to deal with disputes
11. Co-ordinating monthly credit control meetings with client account management team to pursue internal debt resolution and seek escalation of debt recovery
12. Uphold confidentiality
13. Working alongside the sales, projects and contracts teams to ensure invoice accuracy, meeting of contractual obligations and client reporting/relationships to maximise cash collection
Key competencies & experience
1. Experienced credit control background in B2B 3+ years (B2C would be an advantage)
2. Ability to communicate persuasively, negotiate sustainable payment arrangements where required
3. Ability to multi-task & prioritise daily tasks to meet deadlines
4. Take ownership for providing solutions
5. Positive can-do attitude
6. Proficiency in excel
7. Experience in energy would be advantageous
8. A proven focus on improving effectiveness and efficiency of processes
9. Previous experience of working in a client focused environment with the ability to communicate at all levels
10. Confident, articulate and adept in obtaining and where necessary challenging information in order to progress and meet targets
