As a Caretaker, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, security, and cleanliness of our school premises. Your commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for our students and staff will contribute to the overall success of our school.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Security and Safety:
o Conduct regular security checks of the school premises, including doors, windows, and gates.
o Ensure all entrances and exits are secure and safe.
o Respond promptly to security alarms and emergencies and liaise with relevant authorities if necessary.
o Implement and maintain fire safety procedures and equipment.
2. Maintenance and Repairs:
o Perform routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
o Address minor repairs promptly and report major maintenance issues to the appropriate authorities.
o Keep records of maintenance and repair work carried out.
3. Cleaning and Hygiene:
o Oversee the cleanliness and hygiene of classrooms, corridors, restrooms, and common areas.
o Ensure that cleaning schedules are followed and cleaning supplies are well-stocked.
o Assist with waste management and recycling efforts.
4. Groundskeeping:
o Maintain the school grounds, including lawn care, gardening, and snow removal when necessary.
o Ensure the playground equipment is safe and in good working condition.
o Report any hazards or damage to outdoor facilities.
5. Health and Safety Compliance:
o Implement health and safety policies and procedures.
o Conduct risk assessments and take appropriate measures to minimize risks.
o Keep records of health and safety checks and inspections.
6. Supervision and Teamwork:
o Work closely with other staff members, including the school leadership team.
o Coordinate with external contractors and vendors when necessary.
o Provide support during school events and activities.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Previous experience in a caretaker, or facilities management role, in an educational setting.
* Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.
* Basic maintenance skills in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
* Excellent organizational and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Flexibility to respond to emergencies outside of regular working hours.
* A commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff.
This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
