Job Purpose
The HR Officer (HRO) will work alongside the Head of HR and Senior HR Assistant to deliver an exceptional HR service to our Assay Office. The HRO will be instrumental in promoting a positive, fair and inclusive culture at the Goldsmiths Company by helping to recruit, retain and develop talent. This role is a generalist HR role.
This is a part-time, fixed-term role for up to 12 months.
Key Responsibilities
* Recruitment and Onboarding
* Assist in the attraction of talent through effective job descriptions and job advertisements.
* Coordinate the hiring process, including organising interview panels, drafting interview questions, and liaising with candidates.
* Oversee onboarding programmes to ensure new hires are effectively integrated into the Company.
* Employee Relations
* Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns and queries.
* Coach managers and supervisors on proactive and best practice management of cases.
* Promote employee engagement and well-being initiatives.
* Organise and assist with disciplinaries, grievances and sickness absence management.
* Performance Management
* Work with managers and supervisors to ensure employees are performing to their optimum level.
* Provide guidance to managers on setting objectives and assessing employee performance.
* Identify training and development needs based on performance reviews.
* HR Policy and Compliance
* Ensure the Company complies with UK legislation.
* Develop, review, and update HR policies and procedures.
* Contribute to regular audits of policies and procedures, to ensure adherence to HR best practices.
* Be a Company ambassador for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEI+B).
* Training and Development
* Plan and implement training programs to enhance employee skills and competencies.
* Monitor the effectiveness of training initiatives and suggest improvements.
* Facilitate HR training/ information sessions for managers and employees.
* Compensation and Benefits
* Support the Senior HR Assistant in the efficient administration of benefits.
* Manage employee rewards and recognition initiatives.
* Data and Reporting
* Maintain accurate HR records and databases.
* Generate reports on HR metrics such as turnover and absenteeism.
* Oversee the roll-out of the employee engagement survey, identifying key trends.
PERSON SPECIFICATION: SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE
Essential
* Experience advising managers and supervisors through complex employee casework.
* Working through sickness absence cases, using external advisors where appropriate e.g. Occupational Health, workstation assessors etc.
* Use of HR databases, ideally ADP.
