We are looking for someone to help us grow our organic, Soil Association certified market garden and assist with our pedigree Hereford suckler herd near Cirencester, Gloucestershire.
If you love being outside, working with your hands, and with the natural environment, then this could be a way into sustainable growing.
The site is just under 1.18 ha and will include looking after a young, heritage apple orchard, free-ranging laying hens, helping to propagate herbs, vegetables, and soft fruit, and harvesting and packing produce. The major duties will be in the market garden.
It is a new venture, so we want someone with practical skills, who is good with machinery, observant, and has the ability to work unsupervised at busy times. There will be some weekend work. An interest in organic farming is essential as some duties will include the livestock.
Ideally, the successful person will start around the end of March in time for a busy growing season. The role is initially part-time, rising to 40 hours per week with a starting salary of £20,000-£22,500 depending on qualifications and any horticultural or agricultural certificates.
This is a seasonal growing position at this point, but if you are hoping for a permanent job and you have the right credentials, please get in touch.
