Payroll Manager The role: Reporting to the Senior People Business Partner, the Payroll Manager will oversee the UK payroll process, handling both bi-weekly and monthly cycles in-house. In addition, they will manage international payroll through an outsourced provider, ensuring that all payroll and benefits processes are executed accurately, efficiently, and on time. If you're eager to make a tangible impact and take a hands-on approach, this is the ideal role for you Key Responsibilities: Manage end-to-end payroll processing using W for bi-weekly and monthly UK payroll cycles, ensuring full compliance with statutory obligations. Global responsibility for all international payrolls (using varying delivery models – outsourced versus insourced) Collaborate closely with outsourced payroll partners to ensure smooth, seamless processing of international payroll cycles (semi-monthly and monthly). Perform payroll reconciliations and provide detailed payroll analysis to ensure accuracy. Handle HMRC queries and manage Real-Time Information (RTI) submissions, including processing statutory payments such as SMP and SSP, and managing starters, leavers, P11Ds, P45s, and P46s. Serve as the central point of contact for all payroll and benefits-related queries, providing support to both payroll partners and employees. Stay up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations related to payroll, pensions, and benefits to ensure compliance. Work closely with the Finance department to ensure the smooth running of payroll operations, ensuring alignment between payroll and financial reporting. Continuously review, improve, and implement efficient payroll and benefits processes to reduce employee queries and improve operational efficiency. Identify gaps in the current employee benefits offering, review existing vendors, manage benefit renewals, and explore new vendors to enhance the company’s benefits package. Process and manage relevant benefits in kind such as the EV scheme and bike scheme. Oversee the entire pension auto-enrolment process, ensuring compliance and smooth operation from start to finish. Manage and validate all payroll reporting and assist with financial audit data preparation and reporting. Desired Experience: A professional qualification in Payroll or high-level demonstrable experience. Hands-on experience with payroll systems, particularly Workday, as this is a growing system for global payroll integration. Advanced Excel proficiency, with the ability to manage complex payroll calculations. Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, pensions, and accounting principles. Extensive understanding of PAYE/NIC, statutory payments, including redundancy, SMP, and SSP. In-depth experience with pension schemes, including the Auto Enrolment process. A proactive approach to staying up-to-date with new payroll legislation and compliance changes.
