The Purpose:
To contribute to the delivery of outstanding compliance standards across a high-performing catering and events operation, supporting the club’s ambition to lead both on and off the pitch. This role works collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to uphold health, safety, and environmental best practices, while maintaining flexibility and a strong commitment to quality, responsiveness, and continuous improvement in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
The Role:
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Head of Regulatory Services in ensuring compliance with all food safety regulations across catering, hospitality, retail, and event operations.
* Monitor and implement new or amended legislation, communicating changes to relevant teams via policies, presentations, and training.
* Maintain and update the company HACCP system; provide ongoing support to the catering team in food safety practices.
* Conduct regular audits and inspections across all food business operations, including kitchens, bars, kiosks, and training facilities.
* Develop and manage food safety and service policies and procedures; ensure consistent application and compliance.
* Liaise with allergen facilitators and ensure all menus meet allergen management requirements.
* Complete and circulate pre-match and match-day inspection reports to relevant stakeholders.
* Lead by example in food-safe behavior, personal hygiene, and dress code in food service areas.
* Deliver food safety training to new and existing staff; summarise audit findings and ensure corrective actions.
* Manage pest control provision and contribute to sustainability in supplier procurement.
* Prepare and submit monthly food safety and compliance reports to the Head of Regulatory Services.
* Act as liaison with Local Authorities on environmental health and safety matters in the absence of the Head of Regulatory Services.
* Promote and support food safety, health & safety, and environmental initiatives.
* Attend HACCP committee meetings, ensuring actions are tracked and followed up.
* Collaborate with the Regulatory Services team to uphold standards and assist in incident logging.
* Undertake additional duties to support the ongoing effectiveness of the food safety function.
The Person:
* Possess, or be actively working towards, a relevant degree or diploma in Food Inspection, Environmental Health, or an equivalent discipline.
* Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in implementing food safety and health & safety practices within fast-paced operational environments, with a focus on integrating these processes into broader corporate risk management strategies.
* Proven ability to plan effectively, manage risk, influence others, and demonstrate strong organisational skills.
* Capable of interpreting a wide range of analytical and microbiological data, making sound, timely decisions based on results.
* Experience in leading and managing cross-functional problem-solving teams.
* Ideally, familiarity with the roles, responsibilities, and powers of regulatory authorities such as Environmental Health and Trading Standards.
* Proficient in using IT systems for audits, system development, and reporting.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to adapt style to suit different audiences and levels.
* Highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and well-organised.
* Must hold a full UK driving licence, with flexibility to travel as required.
