Specialist Dietitian Band 6 12 months fixed term - up to 28 hours per week
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Band 6 dietitian who wishes to develop their clinical skills in a more specialised area. This could include Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Parenteral Nutrition, Critical Care, Stroke alongside more general Oral Nutritional Support.
The role is for a 12 month period and we can be flexible regarding hours (up to 28 hours weekly and days of work).
We are looking for a HCPC registered Dietitian to join our team of Dietitians and a Dietetic Assistant based at Tameside General Hospital.
We have strong links with the Trust Nutrition Nurse, SALT team and Community Dietitians, other AHPs and are committed to your Professional Development. The department has excellent IT facilities.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide effective dietetic treatment for a caseload of adult inpatients at Tameside General Hospital. This will include a specialised area such as Respiratory, Stroke, Gastroenterology, Critical Care, as well as more general caseload of oral nutritional support and enteral tube feeding.
You will mentor recently qualified dietitians, be involved with all aspects of provision for dietetic learners and provide training to other Healthcare Professionals.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* BSc (Hons) or post graduate diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics
* Current registration with the HCPC
* Relevant post grad training / study days
* Member of the BDA
* Student assessment course
Knowledge
* Experience of working with patients with dysphagia and aware of International Descriptors.
* Knowledge of national clinical guidelines with regards to enteral nutrition
* Knowledge of current professional issues within dietetics
* Able to demonstrate a problem solving approach to the nutritional management of a range of conditions
* Knowledge of the roles of other professionals and the principles of multidisciplinary team and partnership working
* Knowledge of in house catering / providing a modified textured food service
Experience
* Experience working with patients requiring artificial nutritional support such as nasogastric or gastrostomy feeding.
* Experience working with individuals with long term or degenerative conditions where empathy and good communication is needed.
* Can demonstrate autonomy, confidence, leadership and self motivation
* Experience with planning complex discharges to patients home, often involving care packages.
* Experience with student dietitians - giving feedback and supporting them.
