Senior Technical Manager required in Hertfordshire
PCR have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Technical Manager to work for a well-established contractor based in Hertfordshire.
Key Responsibilities | Function and Scope
▪ Your prime duty is to take on the full technical responsibility for your allocated projects during both the pre-construction and construction stages.
▪ You may also be tasked with providing technical advice and recommendations during the tendering process to ensure that tender submissions are compliant and commercially advantageous.
▪ You will contribute towards ensuring that the Technical Department plays a key role in delivering quality buildings on time, within budget and to the satisfaction of all current legislation.
▪ emphasis will be given to maximising profitability through the following:
1.
By advice on alternative forms of construction or improvements to existing design proposals during the design ‘lead in’ and construction periods.
2.
Being fully aware of Regulation changes and full implementation within Consultants design.
3.
By actively exploring potential ‘value engineering’ opportunities in conjunction with the other team members during the design ‘lead in’ and construction periods.
4.
By scrutinising designs received from external consultants to ensure they are both compliant and are maximising commercial opportunities.
5.
By reporting directly to the Technical Director to ensure that commercial opportunities are discussed at the earliest opportunities.
6.
By ensuring that the other team members are kept fully abreast on any technical points of interest, areas of concern etc.
7.
By maintaining dialogue with Surveyors and the Commercial Director to ensure that due consideration is given to the tender budget during design development.
8.
Ensuring all information provided by consultants is checked for Building Regulations, Warranty and client requirements.
9.
Ensure that package sign off meetings are held with the wider project team, so all comments are captured and incorporated into the design.
10.
Produce thorough and competent notes to the Technical Director to the Boarding meeting on relevant site matters and design changes / value engineering.
▪ Your role will involve close liaison with our clients, consultants and the supply chain and, of course, with other members of the Bugler team.
▪ This is not an exhaustive description as there will be a number of other duties that will go hand in hand with role.
▪ Your scope of works will also include but is not limited to the following:
1.
Appointment of external design consultants with the approval of the Technical Director.
2.
Checking working drawing packages produced by external consultants (with particular attention given to how these reflect tender assumptions and budget).
3.
Checking Structural Engineers drawings in relation to the Architects drawings.
4.
Coordination of designs from suppliers and obtaining consultant approval.
5.
The management of information through Viewpoint.
6.
Attending site meetings and preparing all necessary reports for tabling and discussion.
7.
Chairing design team meetings and subsequent issuing of meeting minutes.
8.
Resolving technical issues arising from sites.
Key Competencies and Technical Procedure Required
▪ Completing the registration process for building waranties.
▪ Obtaining ground investigation/remediation reports as necessary.
▪ Co-ordinating the sourcing of statutory authority quotations and arranging payment in-line with the build programme.
▪ Obtaining SAP calculations and arranging Air Pressure Testing for completed units.
▪ Certification or arranging sound testing for Building Regulations / CSH and employers compliance.
▪ Liaising with Highway authorities in relation to Section Agreements (278, 38, 104).
▪ Dealing with the Party Wall surveyors to obtain relevant approvals.
▪ Liaising with SBD officer with a view to Full and Part 2 compliance with SBD standards.
▪ Discharging and liaising with Planning Authorities in relation to planning conditions.
▪ Discharging and liaising with the warranty provider in relation to warranty conditions.
▪ Discharging and liaising with Building Control body in relation to building regulation condition discharges in a timely manner.
▪ Ensuring the collection of site-based evidence for building regulation compliance.
