Job overview
The full-time (37.5 hours) role is advertised on a fixed term contract basis from February 2025 until February 2026. The part-time (30 hours) role is advertised on a fixed term basis from January 2025 to April 2025 due to maternity leave of the substantive post holders.
An opportunity has arisen within the Medical HR Department for enthusiastic, self-motivated, well-organised individuals who wish to develop their skills in the provision of a comprehensive HR service.
The main focus of these roles will be working alongside the Medical HR Managers in supporting resident doctors across the trust and associated host organisations.
The posts offer an opportunity to expand experience in this specialised and developing area of HR work. Applicants should be able to demonstrate commitment and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as the post involves liaison with medical staff at all levels in addition to outside agencies. A diplomatic and tactful approach is essential.
Main duties of the job
1. To assist in the provision of a comprehensive and timely Human Resource service based on current best practice and in accordance with Local/National Terms and Conditions of Service and current legislation.
2. Provision of a recruitment and selection service for doctors and dentists, including the preparation of advertisements, job descriptions, person specifications, and provision of advice on issues relating to Trust policies and procedures.
3. Preparation of appointment letters, payroll documentation, and contracts of employment associated with new starters, changes to employee details, and termination of employment matters.
4. Participate in the administration of the Lead Employer arrangement liaising with Training Programme Directors.
5. To assist the Medical HR Manager in the promotion of good industrial relations within the Trust by developing working relationships with staff associations and trade unions.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Educated to Undergraduate degree level or equivalent plus relevant experience Or Extensive relevant experience of HR/Medical HR related work within the NHS or other large organisation.
* Possess/or be studying towards an appropriate Human Resources qualification (IPD or equivalent).
Experience
* Documented experience of dealing with professional groups.
* IT skills including working knowledge of databases and Microsoft Office packages.
* Experience of recruitment and selection procedures.
* Experience of dealing with Medical & Dental staff.
* Organised/logical approach.
* Good written communication & interpersonal skills.
* Proven ability to work using own initiative.
* Ability to work to deadlines.
* An understanding of equal opportunities.
* Developed understanding of HR policies and practices and relevant associated employment legislation.
* Understanding of data protection issues and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
* Previous exposure to dealing with industrial relations issues.
* Knowledge of computerised personnel system including ESR.
* Experience of working with National Recruitment database.
