The School Nurse Clinical Support Worker will work within their scope of practice to carry out aspects of care, provide support and advice, information, and signposting. The SN CSW will be part of the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) for Walsall, attending schools and other educational establishments to weigh and measure children and young people. The CSW will be involved with inputting NCMP data and producing the letters. The CSW will support the nursing team in delivering health interventions such as clinics, health education sessions, and parent and child groups.

The School Nursing service is part of the wider Children's Health services, providing community-based services for children and young people aged 5-19 years. The service works with stakeholders across various settings to lead the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme (5-19) to improve child health outcomes and identify families at risk early.
The main aim of public health services for children (5-19) is to protect and promote health and wellbeing. The service is led by school nurses and supported by a skilled team, delivering public health outcomes for children.
As a Clinical Support Worker, you will work under the direction of the Clinical Team Leader to provide efficient, effective, and comprehensive administrative and clinical support to the School Nursing Service. Your duties will include visiting schools as part of the NCMP to weigh and measure children and supporting the delivery of health interventions, clinics, and education sessions.

It offers inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital and a wide range of community services. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Visiting schools and educational settings to weigh and measure children and young people as part of the NCMP.
2. Supporting senior nursery nurses and community staff nurses in delivering parenting and children's intervention groups.
3. Assisting community staff nurses and school nurses during assessment clinics, including weighing and measuring children.
4. Responding to routine queries from clients, carers, relatives, and professionals, providing non-clinical advice and signposting.
5. Planning and prioritising your workload, accepting guidance from higher-level staff and managers.
6. Using good judgement, tact, and discretion when dealing with inquiries, providing basic identification of needs, and offering non-clinical advice about admissions and appointments.
7. Supporting administrative duties such as photocopying, faxing, printing, handling post, scheduling appointments, and filing.
8. Welcoming and directing visitors to the department.
9. Preparing documentation for the NCMP, including consent forms.
10. Inputting data such as measurements, appointments, and attendance onto databases for analysis.
11. Demonstrating job tasks to new staff, agency staff, and students.
12. Using email professionally to communicate with colleagues and other departments.
