Are you a mixed animal veterinary surgeon seeking a new challenge? Would you like to work for an award-winning, RCVS-accredited mixed animal practice in the heart of Cambridgeshire? Our client is located in a charming city renowned for its stunning architecture, rich history, and vibrant cultural scene. Just a short drive away is Wicken Fen, one of the oldest nature reserves in the UK, offering a variety of walking and cycling trails through diverse habitats that are perfect for nature enthusiasts. Step back in time and visit the local museums, Oliver Cromwell's house, or the iconic Cathedral that dominates the city's skyline. Cambridge is just a short train ride from the excitement of London and is close to local airports, making it a convenient base for exploring the region.
Our client is looking for a Farm/Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join their fantastic team. They offer an interesting and varied caseload, with a focus that leans more toward equine cases. Farm work ranges from smallholders with pigs and alpacas to large commercial farms with significant cattle herds, primarily for beef production. For those interested in something a bit more unique, the practice also handles zoo work, which could involve anything from dentistry on a camel to beak removals on a giant tortoise.
The role will primarily involve routine checks, with common procedures including broken limbs, caesareans, rig operations, and laser treatments. One of the Clinical Directors is highly regarded for their skills in artificial insemination and embryo transfer, offering opportunities for those looking to develop their expertise in these areas.
The practice boasts a strong team of professionals with specialisations in orthopaedics, reproduction, medicine, and surgery. They currently have nine Veterinary Surgeons, including two certificate holders, supported by two Registered Veterinary Nurses and five support staff. The team is enthusiastic and dynamic, and they are looking for a like-minded individual to join them. The practice is housed in a modern, purpose-built facility with hospitalisation and surgical capabilities for both equine and farm animals. They are well-equipped with the latest technology and are committed to investing in new equipment and innovative ideas.
