We currently have 6 opportunities available for a Wastewater Environmental Protection (Chemical Dosing) Technicians to join our team working across Devon & Cornwall. Joining us on a full-time, permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary of £27,000 - £41,000 per annum plus excellent benefits. About the role: As our Enivronmental Protection Technician, you will provide ongoing operational support to the area team to safeguard and optimise our chemical dosing installations. You will visit all sites within your operating area routinely and adjust / optimise dosing accordingly. You will be responsible for ensuring dosing is optimised to give a compliant effluent whilst protecting against over-dosing. You will monitor pH through processes and report promptly any concerns. You will review our chemical use dashboard proactively and monitor trends in chemical consumption. You will check and clean online instrumentation, replacing reagents and cross-checking calibrations to ensure our online data is always accurate.
What you’ll be doing as our technician
1. Routinely visit chemical dosing sites across the operational area (vehicle will be provided)
2. Report on chemical use and efficiencies.
3. Liaise with local teams around dosing set points and timely adjustments needed seasonally.
4. Review chemical consumption and spot trends and anomalies to facilitate early intervention.
5. Report on condition and operability of dosing assets.
6. Investigate any breaches of phosphate / metal parameters.
7. Assist in the production of PRA / Risk Assessments for non-routine work being undertaken on any dosing sites.
8. Check online monitoring equipment is reporting correctly.
9. Report faults and follow up to ensure timely resolution.
10. Monitor effluent / influent quality of wastewater flows and report accurate results.
11. Maintain operational equipment so results are auditable.
12. Respond to any site issues identified / highlighted whilst on site.
What we are looking for:
13. Minimum of 5 GCSEs A-C grade or equivalent in Maths, English and a Science subject
14. Experience of working within a scientific / operational environment (preferred)
15. Clean current driving licence.
16. Understanding of chemical dosing and phosphate removal process.
17. Team player
18. Passionate about protecting the environment of the region.
