Working in Manufacturing at JLR, you'll be the hands-on expert who brings innovation to life. You'll collaborate with a team of expert technicians and problem-solvers and use cutting-edge tools, facilities, and processes engineered together to build era-defining vehicles that people across the world know and love. Your expertise will directly impact the shaping of modern luxury. Together, let’s create the exceptional.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We are currently hiring for the position of a Discrete Event Simulation Engineer to join the Manufacturing Team here with us at JLR. In the role, you will be responsible for supporting vehicle and system programmes with the DES function, modelling the process flow from concept through to delivery phase. You will be building and maintaining witness simulation models of programmes and facilities around JLR, mainly within the propulsion environment. You will be liaising with customers to get data, feeding back results, covering the whole breadth of the project from concept to build to delivery. This may include things like looking at what changes are needed on existing projects, assessing if new equipment parts are needed, and how models can be optimized, all using Witness software.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
1. Support the DES model generation from concept modelling to fully detailed mimic of the programme/system that meets the design scope, operating principles, performance metrics, safety, quality, delivery, cost, people and environment objectives.
2. Support the system optimisation, cost avoidance, best practices capturing and sharing this with relevant stakeholders.
3. Able to work effectively with design teams to develop and optimise solutions considering multi-attributes within defined deadlines and time constraints.
4. Guide the process using product knowledge and awareness of potential design constraints to ensure due consideration is given in developing solutions.
5. Coordinate projects and teams feedback of results as required through design/project reviews/DES Dashboards.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED

2. Prior experience of working on multiple simulation projects.
3. Demonstrable working knowledge and experience of Discrete Event Simulation toolset.
4. Demonstrable previous experience and background in production process flow simulation, problem solving on complex technical systems.
5. Demonstrable previous experience of bottleneck analysis using Discrete Event Simulation.
6. Thorough understanding and application of Lean Tools and Techniques.
We work hard to nurture a culture that is inclusive and welcoming to all. We understand candidates may require reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process. Please discuss these with your recruiter so we can accommodate your needs.
