Creative Arts Learning Support Assistant

Parker Smith Inclusion are currently working with a creative arts college in East London who are looking for passionate and creative individuals to support learners aged 16-18 in their pursuit of making waves in the creative world. Students study a range of subjects including Drama, Music performance and production, media, games design, and event management. Additionally, many learners will be resitting GCSEs or studying for functional skills exams.
Additional support is needed because some students have additional needs including Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Therefore, some experience supporting students with SEND is desirable but not essential. We want to see that you are creative, passionate, and open to learn!
Key Responsibilities:
1. Foster a safe and welcoming environment that promotes learner attendance, punctuality, and overall wellbeing.
2. Assist students in comprehending assignment briefs, particularly those facing barriers to learning.
3. Encourage learners to build self-esteem and take ownership of their educational journey.
4. Guide students in proofreading their written work, focusing on spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
What We’re Looking For:
1. A keen interest or background in the arts, encompassing areas such as music production/performance, media, games design, art/animation, performing arts, or events management.
2. A proactive team player with a positive attitude and a keen eye for detail.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Empathy and understanding towards a demographic with high rates of free school meals and poverty levels.
5. A minimum of GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or equivalent (Level 2).
