The Position
This is an exciting opportunity for an Associate Mechanical Design Engineer to
join one of the biggest Multi-Discipline Consultants in the UK in their Reading
office. You will work on projects in the science and research, advanced
manufacturing, motorsport, education, defense, commercial and residential
sectors.
As the Associate Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be exposed to many
sectors and many cultures. Supporting the delivery of the project you will be
engaged with the complete design team, supporting the engineering choices and
direction to optimize benefits and value for money to the client and end users.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Managing the resources of the team
2. Taking client briefs and generating fee proposals
3. Managing the fees on a project including raising invoices
4. Assisting in developing and growing the team by reviewing prospective
candidates and managing the interview process
5. Working as part of a design team delivering detailed design
6. Using specialist computer-aided design (CAD) and BIM (Revit) software and
other resources to design the systems required for the project
7. Designing site-specific equipment as required
8. Overseeing and supervising the installation of building systems and
specifying maintenance and operating procedures
9. Liaising closely with other professionals, including structural engineers,
architects, surveyors, and contractors of in-house and external project
teams
10. Attending a range of project group and technical meetings
11. Ensuring that the design and maintenance of building systems meets
legislative and health and safety requirements
12. Advising clients and architects on energy use and conservation in a range
of buildings and sites, aiming to minimize the environmental impact and
reduce the carbon footprint
13. Peer review of colleagues’ works
What they need from you
1. Experience with running projects from conception through to completion
including calculations, drawings, specifications, etc
2. Accredited Building Services degree or higher educational qualification
(HNC/HND)
3. REVIT skills
4. AutoCAD experience (experience with IES modeling and Revit would be an
advantage)
5. Post-degree qualification experience in Building Services or Mechanical
engineering, and ideally be working towards a Chartership
