About the role
We are looking for a UX Designer to join our Service Design and Digital Adoption team within the Transformation department.
This is a unique opportunity to help design, evolve and manage both internal and external digital products. As a UX Designer, you will create accessible and user-friendly products that transform council services, making them simpler, easier, and faster to use. You will leverage user research to devise and iterate product designs, championing the needs of our users at every step. Your creativity and insights will be communicated through compelling prototypes, collaborating with teams across the council to bring your ideas to life.
About us
The team is continually evolving, focused on creating, managing, and improving a diverse range of digital products. These products are essential for supporting key functions across council and partner services, helping us deliver innovative and effective solutions.
You'll be working closely with our User Experience Lead, alongside service designers, product managers, and digital and automation analysts, as well as collaborating with the wider technology team.
As part of our multi-disciplinary team, we're transforming how the council manages its digital products for the better. Projects delivered by the team include:
* Digital council services – these include online services such as highway fault reporting, Blue Badge applications, and waste and parking permits. We have also implemented a comprehensive 'Contact Us' solution and developed a location checker to help direct users to area-specific web content.
* Household support fund – delivering a digital process that allows eligible residents to apply for financial support quickly and easily.
* Self-service IT portal – an online platform that allows staff to find answers to their questions and resolve issues independently, without needing to contact a support agent.
* Chatbot – an interactive tool that allows users to get answers to their questions and resolve issues through automated conversations, without needing to contact a support agent.
* Robotic Process Automation (RPA) – a technology that automates repetitive tasks and processes, enhancing user experience by reducing manual effort and increasing efficiency.
The Transformation team is an innovative, fast-paced department, offering digital and data services, along with change management and innovation initiatives. We empower the organisation and its partners to achieve their goals and continuously enhance the services we provide to the people of North Yorkshire and beyond.
We're a maturing organisation, having recently become a unitary council. Join us on this exciting journey and be a part of shaping our future. You'll play a key role in our digital transformation and have the opportunity to be involved in exciting changes as we prepare to deliver the next phase of transformation in North Yorkshire.
