The Post:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced pharmacist to fulfil the role of PHS Chief Pharmacist (0.5/0.6wte) to provide strategic, specialist and professional advice to PHS on all pharmaceutical matters including pharmaceutical public health. You will work with a range of policy makers and public health/health and social care service providers and stakeholders across all sectors in Scotland and beyond. You will lead and determine the strategic direction of the pharmacy team providing clinical and public health leadership to optimise the data and intelligence from our national medicines and vaccine data assets to support public health advocacy, policy and service delivery.
The Candidate:
This role calls for a dynamic, innovative leader with a proven ability to lead strategically and work collegiately as part of multidisciplinary teams. Strong partnership and interpersonal skills are essential. You will bring experience of working at a senior level in clinical and/or pharmaceutical public health practice with practical experience of managing development programs and using data and intelligence to facilitate change and drive service improvement.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
You must be a registered pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council at the time of applying.
Location and Working Pattern:
The post is based in either Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Central Quay, Glasgow. We are currently hybrid working; therefore, you will be expected to spend time in both PHS offices as well as the option to work at home.
Please note that PHS will be relocating from Central Quay, Glasgow to Bothwell Street, Glasgow in 2025.
Monday to Friday, between 18.5 to 22.2 hours per week.
PHS is a flexible employer, and we are happy to discuss requests for alternative working patterns.
During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
