About us
Oxfordshire County Council is seeking 2 new School Engagement Officers with a passion for active travel to join our Behaviour Change and Travel Plans team within the Transport and Infrastructure service area. This role is pivotal in promoting sustainable and active travel among students and parents, fostering a culture of healthy and environmentally friendly travel habits for school journeys across Oxfordshire. This contributes to our broader goals of climate action, healthy place-shaping, and improving air quality.
About the role
As a School Engagement Officer, you will be responsible for developing and overseeing sustainable and healthy travel interventions. You will provide technical support and lead on our behaviour change projects including Schools travel plans, the delivery of our School Streets programme and other school travel interventions, consultations, and planning applications. You will manage the Modeshift STARS travel planning system and coordinating travel interventions that encourage a shift away from car use for school journeys. You will engage with colleagues across the Council to integrate sustainable travel priorities into policy and practice. Additionally, you will represent the Council at school events, public exhibitions, and other engagements involving students and parents.
About you

The ideal candidate will be degree-educated or have significant experience in transport planning, education engagement, or a related field. You should have an understanding of current transport issues and a strong interest and experience in active travel or behavioural change projects involving students and parents. Excellent communication skills and IT proficiency are also required.
