Our leading engineering and maintenance provider client is seeking a Quantity Surveyor based out of Reading to support their Utilities customers.
They support across chemical & petrochemical, nuclear, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals & biopharma, power & energy, utilities, renewables and food & beverage markets. They enhance the efficiency of assets, ensuring a high level of availability and reducing maintenance costs.
They have extensive experience in offshore and onshore facilities; specialising in asset management services throughout all life cycle phases from consulting, engineering, manufacturing, assembly, operations, maintenance, and decommissioning.
They have an experienced and highly competent workforce of over 4,500 employees operating from 14 offices in strategic industrial hubs, upholding the highest standards of safety, compliance and quality.
The candidate will provide Commercial administration to regulated industries portfolio, for the our clients business.
Responsibilities
1. Multiple type of Contract administration
2. Identifying, raising, monitoring and closing Early Warning notices
3. Identifying, raising, monitoring and closing Compensation Event notices and variations
4. Estimating and pricing Compensation Event quotations, negotiating through to agreement
5. Working with others to ensure fully compliant notices are raised under the contract
6. Advising other departments on contractual obligations of the Contractor
7. Producing Applications for Payment in accordance with the stated NEC method or framework depending on the contract type, i.e. Activity Schedule under Option
8. Producing Project Specific Cost and Value Reports
9. Forecasting versus budget (cost and value)
10. Cost analysis - prelims, plant, equipment, materials, labour, subcontract
11. Value analysis
12. Subcontract management
13. Cash flow and supporting the Finance department with cash collection when necessary
14. Identifying margin improvement opportunities Strong background in dealing with commercial issues regulated businesses
Experience & Qualifications
* 3+ years in similar role in a contracting organisation
* Experience of NEC3 contracts (essential)
* Experience of Fixed Price contracts under frameworks
* Experience of CEMAR or similar tools (essential)
* Evidence of dispute resolution (desirable but not essential)
* Experience in Pharma sector (desirable but not essential)
* SAP experience (Essential)
* ESSENTIAL: Either engineering or commercial qualification
* DESIRABLE: Degree (Engineering, Quantity Surveying, IT, or similar)
* Member of Profession Institution (e.g. MRICS or similar)
