We are seeking a Senior/Principal Hydrology Consultant to lead and support water management projects across Ireland. The role involves addressing key hydromorphological and hydrological challenges affecting ecological status under the Water Framework Directive. You will work on identifying and resolving issues such as barriers, dredging, and canalisation while developing and implementing nature-based solutions and natural flood management measures to improve hydromorphology and hydrology where needed.
Requirements:
* Degree (Level 8/9) in Hydrology, Geomorphology, Environmental Science, or a related field
* 5+ years of relevant experience, ideally in consultancy
* Chartered Scientist, Environmentalist, or Ecologist status (preferred)
* Strong knowledge of hydro morphological issues impacting Ireland's water resources
* Experience with geomorphological assessments, river restoration, and fish passage/passes
* Experience in peatland restoration (advantageous)
* Proven ability to manage projects within timelines and budgets
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
* Proficient in proposal writing, tendering, and client engagement
* Full Irish/EU driving licence
Responsibilities:
* Conduct hydromorphological and hydrological assessments, focusing on improving water quality and ecological status
* Develop and implement river restoration projects, focusing on barrier mitigation and removal
* Design and apply nature-based solutions and flood management strategies
* Perform geomorphological assessments at both catchment and reach scales
* Lead the business development process, including writing proposals and managing client engagements
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality environmental consulting services
* Attend project sites and client meetings, providing expert advice and recommendations
